Personal Parade

A local club organized a holiday activities for kids which included a parade. When we heard about it, we thought it would be fun to dress up Grant's tricycle with balloons and ribbons. Grant really got excited for his big showing.

When we arrived, we learned we missed the parade by an hour.

Grant was so excited that we set up a short course in their parking lot and Grant had his own personal parade. He didn't really know the difference and had a great time on his trike. He turned on his fireman hat sounds and even mastered the parade wave.

Grant Painting

Grant is into trains. Anything trains. Trains, trains, trains. Mom had a great idea of custom making a train sweatshirt for the cold season. She made the stencil and Grant got to paint it!

Super Boo (aka Skippyjon Jones)

I probably like the Skippyjon Jones stories more than Grant does, but when I saw that they had the Skippyjon mask and cape I knew I had to get them for him.  How cute is our little superhero?!  Melts my heart.

First Selfie

Grant was playing with Mama's phone and took this series of selfies while also somehow figuring out how to make a tryptic of them.  Is the big one a monkey face?

To my surprise, I found this exact image days later on my phone.

Cool Dude on the Cruise

Grant is a lean, mean tricylin' machine.  And he's stylin'.

Halloween 2014 (it rhymes)

Grant is a big, big fan of trains and after his first train ride on a historic railway in Alaska, there really was no better costume than train engineer.  Grant, following the lead of his good friend carder, did the trick or treat neighborhood circuit like a pro.  He went up to the door, said trick or treat, got his candy from a stranger, and usually said thank you. We had a great time watching him fill up his pail and choose his favorite candy to eat first.  It was a lollipop.

Loves the car wash

Grant just loves taking the car through the car wash.  He repeats the sounds the brushes make and then tells them what to do next.

It's Playground Time Again

We have a wonderful indoor playground nearby which Grant loves to visit. It just is not compare to an outdoor park where Grant can run around, play kickball, and dig in the sand. Since the weather has cooled down a bit, we went to our community park and let him go crazy. The last time we visited this park, Grant would start to climb the tower and stop about halfway. Today, he reached the top in no time and was so proud of himself for making it all the way on his own. Check it out:

Alaska Cruise

At the beginning of August, Rebecca's family embarked on a family reunion aboard a cruise through the Inside Passage of Alaska. This was the first cruise experience of much of the family including Grandma Ruth who was the glue that held the trip together for us.

Grant had tons of fun each night at dinner with second-Cousin, 4-year-old Max. The staff of the ship was very accommodating and entertaining for the two of them which was such a relief at the end of each busy day.

Some of Grant's favorites from the trip were riding tram up the side of a mountain in Juno, the historic train ride up and down another mountain in Skagway, and visiting the Bug Museum in Victoria, BC.

Check it out!

Science Center Visit

Grandpa Roger was in town for Grant's 3rd Birthday so we took a guys' trip to the Science Center together. Fitting with the construction theme for his birthday, Grant explored the home construction section. Plumbing was his specialty this time and with the help of a older boy, Grant constructed a Picasso of Pipes along the floor measuring 30 feet.

Then it was off to the water section outside where Grant explored the different ways water can move objects. Thankfully, Grant handled a territory battle by turning his back on the offender and letting the boy's father step in to handle business, Sicilian-style.
