Happy Easter from Grant!

Grant experienced his third Easter Egg Hunt this year and he has become quite the expert. This year, we invited a few neighborhood friends and their kids over for a short hunt in the backyard. They brought a watermelon bunny cake (really tasty) and we provided the eggs (I mean, the Easter Bunny did). The kids made short work of the 50 eggs and spent the bulk of their time showing us all the cool stuff they found inside the eggs. Check it out!

Lego Fun!

The Lego Experience (or something like that) came to town and of course Grant was in attendance. Grant had seen a Lego version of The Hulk and said he wanted to meet him. While we were not sure they would have a Lego Hulk, we knew he would  have a great time with new Lego creations.

Spoiler Alert! They had a Lego Hulk!

Meeting Grandma Ruth at the airport

Grant has a new phrase he likes to use about every other sentence; "I have a good idea." Well his idea to make Grandma a sign for when we picked her up from the airport was a perfect idea. He held the sign up in the parking garage, on the elevator, and all through the airport. His efforts paid off when she came through the exit and he could tell her all about the sign he made. Check it out!

Funny Face - Retro Post

(This is an unpublished post from exactly two years ago, when Grant was just 3.)

Grant is starting to have fun making funny faces and Mommy thinks they're pretty fun, too.

It's Zoo Weather Again

The weather had been so nice lately. We decided to do another visit to the zoo. The first thing Grant wanted to do was ride the train since he was already dressed in his engineer overalls. Lots of new animals to see!

Planting candy cane seeds

Over the Christmas holiday week, we got to spend time with Grandma Ruth again. Mommy found a great activity we could do with Grant at her house. We planted candy cane seeds in a bowl of sugar, which are really Red Hots that we replace with candy canes while Grant is sleeping. Grant was so excited the next morning to see if the candy canes had grown and even more excited to try all of them. Check it out!

Personal Parade

A local club organized a holiday activities for kids which included a parade. When we heard about it, we thought it would be fun to dress up Grant's tricycle with balloons and ribbons. Grant really got excited for his big showing.

When we arrived, we learned we missed the parade by an hour.

Grant was so excited that we set up a short course in their parking lot and Grant had his own personal parade. He didn't really know the difference and had a great time on his trike. He turned on his fireman hat sounds and even mastered the parade wave.

Grant Painting

Grant is into trains. Anything trains. Trains, trains, trains. Mom had a great idea of custom making a train sweatshirt for the cold season. She made the stencil and Grant got to paint it!

Super Boo (aka Skippyjon Jones)

I probably like the Skippyjon Jones stories more than Grant does, but when I saw that they had the Skippyjon mask and cape I knew I had to get them for him.  How cute is our little superhero?!  Melts my heart.

First Selfie

Grant was playing with Mama's phone and took this series of selfies while also somehow figuring out how to make a tryptic of them.  Is the big one a monkey face?

To my surprise, I found this exact image days later on my phone.

Cool Dude on the Cruise

Grant is a lean, mean tricylin' machine.  And he's stylin'.

Halloween 2014 (it rhymes)

Grant is a big, big fan of trains and after his first train ride on a historic railway in Alaska, there really was no better costume than train engineer.  Grant, following the lead of his good friend carder, did the trick or treat neighborhood circuit like a pro.  He went up to the door, said trick or treat, got his candy from a stranger, and usually said thank you. We had a great time watching him fill up his pail and choose his favorite candy to eat first.  It was a lollipop.
